Name: darrel cameron Birth: feb 16 1983 Favourite Color of Skittles: i like the green, lime flavoured ones. Role in the world (self perceived): I think i am here to discover a way to live well with everyone around me. i believe the world has been in a state of disorder and emergency for quite some time now, however, some traces of hope for a better, peaceful future seem to be popping up more and more each day. (although there is still an unmeasurable distance left to travel) i hope to be the eternal optimist, and will strive to see the positives in every situation. (although i haven't really been hit with many problems in my life...) Reason for living: for the last few years, music has been my passion. I am a christian, who, like so many others from whatever religion (or from none at all), tries to live for love, and to do the best that i can in making myself a better person. At the end of the day, if i can look back and say that i am a better person now than i was this morning, i will be content. If not, i will try again tomorrow. Things to help the hours go by: i like to think. i think about nothing and everything, usually getting nowhere but somewhere, if that makes any sense at all.. i would like to spend more time reading books. i do not watch very much television (i only have 3 stations). i listen to music and play music a lot. haven't written much lately, though... i must get back to that. oh, and i am trying to motivate myself to memorize the major and harmonic minor scales on guitar, then to understand where they come from, how to use them, etc.. fun fun Music at the moment: the album i bought most recently is St Germain-Tourist. It is a neat mix of electronic loops and whirls and two-chord structures with people playing jazz solos over it all. check it. i am planning to buy the new radiohead when it comes out (about two weeks from today, as i write this), and i'm really itching for some Miles Davis records. My friends are weening me into Tori Amos very slowly. i really like a lot of her stuff, and i am getting to appreciate all the ones that i cannot understand (musically or lyrically), but i can remember times when it just made me sick, i don't know why. also, check out a band called Mir if you haven't already. They are from Halifax NS and i just love their music. Saw them live, was blown away. picked up the cd,blown away again, but in a different, less aggressive fashion. Their music is based around acoustic guitar songs, but they add so much more (like i am trying to do, but these guys can do it successfully:). Lots of dance elements, strings, dirty beats, and instruments like the sitar and tabla. Their album 'invisible science' has melody lines and lyrics that are repeated and keep popping up in different songs all the way through, it's very cool. also they have a fantastic message of striving for equality as humans. beautiful. Goals for the future (however near or far): i am going to St FX university next year, in Antigonish NS. not sure what i'm taking, although i'm quite sure it will be in the 'arts' genre. i wish to form a band and collectively create and perform the music we love. i also wish to get married and have babies and all that stuff, so i guess i had better get to work.... peace, y'all email
